A road safety convex mirror (also known as a diverging or traffic mirror) is a curved outdoor mirror that bulges outward to provide a wide, 130-degree fish-eye view. By expanding the field of vision, these mirrors eliminate dangerous blind spots at sharp curves, intersections, driveways, and parking areas to prevent vehicle and pedestrian collisions.

- Lens Material: Modern outdoor traffic mirrors primarily use unbreakable polycarbonate (PC). Polycarbonate is highly shatter-resistant, lightweight, and coated with a protective film to stay scratch-resistant and weatherproof. High-end public roads may sometimes use premium polished stainless steel.
- Backing & Frame: Typically structured with a heavy-duty ABS plastic back or fiberglass shell, usually finished in a high-visibility orange or red casing.
- Built-in Sun Shade: Most outdoor units feature an overhanging top visor/hood to block glare from the sun and shield the lens from rain.
