Water-filled road safety barriers are energy-absorbing, interlocking plastic barricades designed to cushion collisions, separate lanes, and manage traffic flow in work zones and construction areas. Made primarily from high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), they are highly portable when empty and provide exceptional stability once filled with water or sand.

Water barriers vary depending on the traffic density, vehicle speed, and space availability of the application zone:

Mini/Pedestrian Barriers (1000mm length): These typically hold 20 to 30 litres of water, feature heights around 760mm to 855mm, and are best suited for parking facilities, pedestrian zones, or low-speed urban streets.

  • Standard Mid-Size Barriers (1300mm to 1700mm length): Commonly holding 50 to 60 litres of ballast, with a height of roughly 1000mm, these provide solid visual guidance for city road diversions and infrastructure construction projects.
  • Highway & High-Capacity Barriers (2000mm+ length): Designed for high-speed zones, these hold 100 litres or more of water ballast, measures over 1000mm in height, and feature a robust footprint to maximize kinetic energy absorption.
